Recent floods in this district have affected thousands of poor people. Large number of families has been shifted to Relief Camps for the first time within a month. From the beginning of the torrential rains this monsoon, Navajeevan Trust has been providing cooked hygienic food packets and essentials in the relief camps and to households in flood affected areas. Navajeevan is providing thousands of food packets daily and distributing kits containing food grains and essentials to flood affected low lying areas in western parts of Kottayam. Large number of generous persons supports the activities with money and materials. Many educational institutions have come forward to participate in the relief supplies.
The recurring expenses towards food and medicines distributed in hospital and for the inmates work out to Rs.90000/- per day during normal days and flood relief activities have doubled due to the flood relief activities. Entire expenses are met out of voluntary donations from benefactors.
Trust does not receive any grant or financial assistance from Government/other agencies. No foreign aid is received by the Trust.
